Allen Booth is the creative designer/developer of KosherTube. But Allen is more than a techie he has become an adviser and a confidant. I know may more about Yiddishkeit than Allen, but I suspect he knows more about you. This morning he told me it was time to begin to write a weekly paragraph or two about what’s going on inside the Tube of KosherTube. He told me to be as “transparent” as I can.
Well, where to start? The Global Headquarters of KT is in a small house on the northern edge of Toronto, It’s not a computer in the basement. It’s an aging computer in the office, another two neanderthal computers in the basement, another in the kitchen, a new computer in the dining/board room and a roaming (limping) laptop.
Each day is an exciting twenty hour roller coaster ride. Over the last weeks we’ve had an explosion of viewership, sometimes as many as 2,000 of you on site at peak times. This caused a number of problems overloading the server, slowing things down, and causing a need for buffering. It also caused more than a few Mazal Tovs all around.
So, what to do? As Les and Allen pointed out, we have become a victim of our own success. We are not going to discourage you from coming to KosherTube. As Les, our diligent server provider and protector, has concluded we need to expand and upgrade a second time in two months. It seems KosherTube is “catching on”.
If you are reading this, you are likely one of our loyal KosherTubers – hopefully a founding member Thank You.
If not, please register today… someday there’ll be a T-Shirt!
