Rosh Hashanah is not just the Jewish new year, it's also the world's birthday. We believe that come this Rosh Hashahah, the world will be 5770 years old.In order to make sure that we have a sweet year to come, we eat sweet things. Not just sweet desserts, our meat dishes are also sweet, and so are the sides. Honey is a prominent part of the menu. So are pomegranates, because they are supposed to have 613 seeds which is the number of commandments the Jews have to follow.

abbi Sholom Lipskar founded The Shul of Bal Harbour, Aleph Insititute and the Educational Academy for the Elderly in 1981. As The Shul's head Rabbi he is both the spiritual leader and educational programmer for all ages. Since receiving rabbinical ordination from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva in Brooklyn in 1968, Rabbi Sholom D. Lipskar has worked as an emissary for the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Rabbi Sholom Dovber Lipskar is recognized as an international leader bringing Torah values to people from all walks of life.http://www.theshul.org The Shul is one of the country's most unorthodox, Orthodox synagogues, a popular center for both Jews who are returning to their Jewish roots & experienced congregants.
