New York - An organization called Yizkereim: Remember Them has launched a rallying call of an historic initiative, they have produced an acclaimed series of inspiring films that document facets of the Holocaust not previously highlighted; stories of spiritual survival and resistance which culminated in the post-Churban rebuilding of Torah communities worldwide. Shanghai Miracle, the first in a series, details the inspirational story of the hundreds of Yeshiva students who escaped to Shanghai, China and lived to rebuild Torah throughout the world. Between 1937 and 1941, Shanghais open-port allowed over 20,000 European Jews seeking refuge from Nazi Germany. During this period, more Jews found sanctuary in China than in any other country in the world. Shanghai Miracle is scheduled to be shown in shuls around the globe. The documentary is jointly sponsored by Torah Umesorahs Zechor Yemos Olam and the Rabbi Leib Geliebter Memorial Foundation.
