HADAR BEN CHEDVA LEAH!
It is now permitted to publish that the heavy fighting in the Rafiach area has been related the kidnapping of an IDF soldier R”L. Givati was operating in the Rafiach area.
Hamas Breaks Yet Another Ceasefire, Abducts Soldier
Late Thursday night Israel acceded to a 72 hour US/UN negotiated humanitarian ceasefire. The ceasefire was supposed to begin at 8 am Israel time. At approximately 9:30am this morning Hamas attacked an Israeli military post near Rafah, killing two soldiers and abducting one. Once again Hamas and the other terrorist organizations have grossly violated a ceasefire which they themselves had committed to, this time before the United States and the United Nations. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest has called the Hamas kidnapping of the IDF soldier a "barbaric violation" of the ceasefire agreement. Prime Minister Netanyahu has told Secretary of State John Kerry that Hamas will bear the consequences of its gross violation of the ceasefire.
IDF: Hamas used ceasefire to kidnap soldier; ceasefire over
IDF fear Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was kidnapped after suicide bomber attacks forces working to clear tunnels in Gaza Friday morning;
The IDF fears an Israeli soldier may have been kidnapped around 9:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Rafah. This occurred when gunmen opened fire on IDF troops in the southern Gaza Strip city. The IDF suspects terrorists kidnapped a soldier, and is conducting extensive searches and efforts to resolve the situation. The IDF has constantly warned of the dangers of Hamas attempts to kidnap soldiers, and has thwarted several such efforts in the last few days. Hamas’s military wing claims it has captured an Israeli soldier, shortly after the IDF confirms in a statement that “initial indication suggests that an IDF soldier has been abducted by terrorists” during an attack around 9:30 a.m. Former National Security Adviser Giora Eiland says this means “an escalation” in the Rafah area of the Strip where the kidnapping took place, as the IDF hunts for the soldier, but may also mark an escalation of the entire conflict. Omer Bar-Lev, the Labor MK who was the commander of Israel’s most elite commando unit, Sayeret Matkal, says the IDF is presumably now deployed deep inside Rafah, searching for the kidnapped soldier, moving house to house if necessary. The IDF “has to physically close off the area.” The Givati soldier was kidnapped around 9:30 a.m. near Rafah when his unit was attacked, including by a suicide bomber and by gunmen who emerged from a tunnel. The terrorists will have tried to get the soldier out of the area via tunnels. “It’s a race against time… by the ground forces, to close off the area, and search house by house.”
Meanwhile, the IDF meanwhile lifted a gag order early on Friday revealing that five Israeli soldiers had been killed on Thursday evening.
Terrorists from the Gaza Strip fired a mortar at their position, bringing the total number of IDF soldiers killed since the start of Operation Protective Edge to 61. The fallen soldiers were named as: Sgt. Maj. Daniel Marash, 22, from Rishon Lezion; Cpt. Omri Tal, 22, from Yehud; Staff Sgt. Shai Kushnir, 20, from Kiryat Motzkin; Staff Sgt. Noam Rozental, 20, from Meitar, and Cpt. Liran Adir, 31, from Moshav Azuz.
A Gaza Division commander said on Thursday that the IDF had managed to deal with 80 percent of all tunnels that had been identfied.
He said Hamas had been preparing for the "July war" for several months, which is why IDF Chief of General Staff Maj. Gen. Benny Gantz ordered troops to be ready for clashes in the run-up to July. The commander admitted that Hamas' tunnel attacks against IDF troops were not spontaneous. In at least one instance, terrorists were seen anticipating and planning to attack an IDF patrol, rather than one of the communities along the Gaza border. "The operation has brought Hamas back four or five years from the tunnel perspective, but [the tunnels] can be restored," he said. This is why the IDF must maintain the ability to maneuver in Palestinian territory in future conflicts, he said. "If they'd told me before the operation that these would be the results, I would have signed off on it with both hands. The price of 56 dead [at the time of speaking] is painful, very painful, but the number of de facto casualties is not the only gauge of whether we completed the mission. The test is restoring confidence and security to Gaza belt residents against the tunnel threat," he said.
Initial investigations into the deaths of the three Maglan soldiers on Wednesday have shown that Hamas operatives hid 12 explosive containers inside the walls of the health clinic.
Each bomb weighing 80 kilograms. Before forces entered the structure, a tank shell was fired inside over fears the building was booby trapped. An Oketz unit dog was sent inside, followed by troops. The explosives were detonated, and the building collapsed onto the soldiers.
"The place is destroyed," Yoran said. "In every other house we discovered a tunnel shaft, or something like it. We located a lot of tunnel shafts. The 7th Armored Brigade found an attack tunnel toward Beeri, which we detonated. The tunnel had several bifurcations -- we destroyed all of them. Other than that, there are fighting tunnels from house to house to carry out a kidnapping attack. All of them understood Hamas is trying to kidnap a soldier." "Soldiers' motivation is high. There are achievements met every day. A shaft here, a weapon there. No day goes by in which we don't find another tunnel shaft. They built an incredible underground city. "The will and motivation exists to finish this thing off completely. We are ready and prepared for it," he said. "Our objective is to restore the peace in the South and it is going to take more time. It's not true that we'll finish this thing off leaving behind terrorists. It's right to work slowly, with precision, meticulously, rather than with haste or superficially. We have taken the enemy years backward."
