Day 18 of Operation Protective Edge
FAA Lifts ban on flights to Israel:
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration lifted its ban on all flight to Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport late Wednesday night, despite ongoing fighting in Gaza. "Before making this decision, the FAA worked with its U.S. government counterparts to assess the security situation in Israel and carefully reviewed both significant new information and measures the Government of Israel is taking to mitigate potential risks to civil aviation," said the FAA in a statement released online.
Finance Minister Yair Lapid declared that Israel might retake the Gaza Strip in order to completely root out the Hamas terrorist threat there, destroy its infrastructure and prevent kidnapping attempts. “We won’t stand aside and watch Israeli citizens being hurt and tunnels being dug to kibbutzim, to children’s houses or dining rooms.

US Secretary of State John Kerry left Israel without any breakthrough on a ceasefire.
In a letter to President Barack Obama, three senators — Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrats Chuck Schumer and Ben Cardin — say any cease-fire should create a situation in which Israelis no longer face the threat of brazen terrorist attacks. The three lawmakers set a high bar for Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in Israel trying to negotiate a cease-fire. Obama administration officials have said Hamas must be denied the ability to fire rockets on Israelis. “The threats posed by Hamas rockets and tunnels whose only purpose is to kill and kidnap Israelis are intolerable, and Israel must be allowed to take any actions necessary to remove those threats,” the senators write. “Any effort to broker a cease-fire agreement that does not eliminate those threats cannot be sustained in the long run and will leave Israel vulnerable to future attacks.”

The Israel Air Force kills a Palestinian operative who emerged from a tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip overnight, the army says in a statement. In a separate incident, a Palestinian opened fire on troops “in one of Hamas’s command and control facilities,” it says. “The soldiers responded, killing the terrorist.” The IDF says it found weapons on the site. Overall, the army targets 35 sites in the Gaza Strip overnight.
Iron Dome defense system intercepted 16 rockets from Gaza throughout the day out of at least 55 fired. One rocket scored a direct hit, destroying a house in Yehud. There were no casualties.

More About KosherTube A Safe Haven PDF Print E-mail
Thinking parents – religious and not religious, Jewish and not-Jewish –  know that the Internet can be a dangerous place for children and adults alike.  While we can all agree that the net is a terrific tool for business, research, and communication, we must also admit that the net is filled with Shmutz (the Yiddish word for dirt).   Social-networking and interactive-video sites are tremendously popular, but their content has also ruined marriages, families, and individual lives.  It is sad that a technology with such great potential for good can so easily become a perverse and pernicious presence in our lives.

KosherTube is a safe haven on the net for you and your family: an interactive video site that is safe for children (and their parents), which is Shmutz-free.

In order to do this we need your participation and a little of your patience.

To encourage your participation, we have given KosherTube many interactive features that will be familiar to those who upload videos to YouTube (or other such sites).  If you have a video of a Kosher Wedding or Bar Mitzvah, a dazzling insight into the weekly Torah portion, or anything else you may want your distant family or your friend next door to see, we invite you to upload it to KosherTube.

But before you send your friends and family to to view your video, please give us a little time to view it first.  (That's the patience part.)  We can only deliver on our promise of a Shmutz-free site by vetting every video before we flip the switch to make it viewable by the public.  All decisions on what will and will not be displayed on KosherTube are made by our staff with Kosher Supervision from our Rabbinic advisors.   This takes some effort  (and more time than other video sites would be willing to spend) but we think it's worth it.  We hope you agree.

So please... jump in and enjoy all of our interactive features, and know that you have at last reached a safe harbor in a turbulent sea.

Where's the advertising?

[ Answer? ] We have no advertising or pop-ups. We want to avoid the irritation that comes with inappropriate advertising. In the future we may offer advertising for items that are consistent with our Kosher mandate, and within the standards called for by our Rabbinic Advisors. At present, we are dependent on contributions, and hope that you can help with this. (Thanks in advance for your interest and support.)
